AACCLA: Appeal for Peru Flood Victims

Friday, March 24, 2017 - 15:38

Dear AACCLA Leaders & Friends of AACCLA:

As you know, devastating floods in Northern Peru and Lima have caused widespread destruction and severely affected the Andean nation. Over 665,000 people have been  isolated, displaced and/or afflicted by the floods and landslides. AACCLA's Chairman, Tom Kenna, and the entire AACCLA Secretariat express our deepest condolences for the tragic loss of life resulting from the floods.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected.  And we applaud the courage, skill, and talent of the first responders and Peruvian medical professionals.  We were pleased to learn from Aldo Defilippi, the Executive Director of AmCham Peru in Lima, that he and the AmCham staff are all safe.

As you can imagine, there is an urgent need for cash donations to obtain humanitarian supplies-e.g. bottled water, food, tents, blankets, first aid kits, medicines, etc.-and then to build temporary shelters.

Our partner organization, the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) has decades of experience responding to natural disasters and is working with local non-governmental groups on the ground in areas that are the most seriously impacted. PADF is in close communication with the Peruvian National Disaster Management Agency and their local project partners in the affected areas. Contributions to PADF's relief efforts will support emergency food assistance, water, sanitation and hygiene activities, shelter materials, among other relief supplies.

Please join AACCLA in support of our AmCham Peru as well as the Peruvian people by donating to the efforts underway by the PADF:
