Last week, the Association of American Chambers of Commerce in Latin America (AACCLA) hosted its annual Strategic Planning Retreat and Outlook on the Americas forum in Miami, Fla. Panama Canal Railway Company (PCRC) president Thomas H. Kenna, who is also chair of the AACCLA governing board, provided remarks to open the forum. KCS has a 50 percent interest in PCRC, which provides ocean-to-ocean freight and passenger service along the Panama Canal.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the AACCLA. Present for the forum were 24 American Chambers of Commerce, representing over 20,000 companies and more than 80 percent of all U.S. foreign investment in the region. The primary topic of discussion was how to address the many challenges ahead in 2017.
In addition to Kenna, among those speaking were U.S. Chamber of Commerce vice president of the Americas Jodi Hanson Bond, Governor Rick Scott of Florida, U.S. Navy Admiral and Commander of the U.S. Southern Command Kurt W. Tidd and Mayor Carlos A. Giménez of Miami-Dade Count
