Panama, August 1st, 2016. The American Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Panama (AmCham) reinforces its social commitment to the Panamanian education, through the creation of the Education Committee.
This Committee seeks to generate innovation, share best practices and recommendations regarding education, and features the participation of both national and international universities, international schools and companies that are members of AMCHAM and that target education as a priority in their corporate social responsibility strategies.
Since 2010, more than 40 AMCHAM member companies have shown their concern about the Panamanian education by voluntarily developing the Chamber´s Social Responsibility Flagship Program focused on leadership development for Directors of Public Schools in the District of San Miguelito.
"This initiative seeks to transfer managerial skills - through mentors / volunteers / business senior executives, to school principals in order to support them to improve their educational management skill" said Milagros Santana, Director of Audit of KPMG, who gave a presentation of the results and impact of this Program´s 6 years of implementation.
Some of the AMCHAM member companies that have initially joined the effort to establish this Committee are: Banesco, Procter & Gamble, City of Knowledge, INCAE, Metropolitan School of Panama, Morgan & Morgan, Universidad Latina, KPMG, Ahues -Vasquez, Florida State University, The Corporate Diplomacy, Baru Panama, Columbus University, CBRE, Berlitz, Universidad del Istmo, Admios, American English and Dell.
The Education Committee of AMCHAM formalizes over 6 years of work on this issue, through its flagship program of social responsibility with School Principals in San Miguelito.
With the creation of this committee, AMCHAM strengthens this effort and opens new opportunities to contribute, from the Chamber to education in Panama.
The Chamber extends an invitation to all members to join this effort for Panama.
