AmCham members visit Panama Viejo

Sunday, May 15, 2016 - 13:31

May 14th was the premier of a series of special weekend events for AMCHAM members called "Discover Panama First".

True anywhere on the planet, people often do not experience the tourism sites in their own homeland. These events are to encourage our membership to learn about and experience the abundance of tourism treasures right in our own backyard.

Panama Viejo was our first adventure. Last Saturday, a private tour of the museum, ruins and tower was conducted by the Patronato Architect, Silvia Arroyo, who will soon be awarded her PhD for her work at Panama Viejo. It was founded in 1519 and was the first European settlement on the Pacific side of the Western Hemisphere.

Future Discover Panama First events will be tours of Casco Antiguo, the Rainforest Discovery Center (one of the world's top birding sites), the Endara Photography Museum and more.

Members are encouraged to not only enjoy these special events but to participate in the monthly Tourism Committee meetings.
