Inter-American Development Bank says Panama has access to some $2 billion

The representative of the InterAmerican Development Bank (IDB) in Panama, Fidel Jaramillo, announced Tuesday that some $2 billion available for investment through 2019. Jaramillo released the figure while making a presentation on capital strategies that the institution will be using for Panama. In 2015, the agency approved an investment for Panama of $600 million, the highest level of investment in the country by the institution.
Panama: Del Monte to invest $120 million dollars to produce bananas

Del Monte stated at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Chiriqui (Camchi) that it would invest 120 million dollars in 1,300 hectares in the district of Baru that are devoted to the cultivation of bananas for export.
"We are telling the Chamber of Commerce of Chiriqui and the former employees that we are interested in boosting banana production and that we are going to invest 120 million dollars, which will allow us to reactivate the activity in the district of Baru," said Luis Gomez, a spokesman for the company.
EIB opens its first Latin American offices in Panama

The decision to open shop in Panama was announced on 28 January by EIB’s Vice President Román Escolano, who is of Spanish nationality. "We announced to the government of Panama the decision taken by the European Investment Bank to open a regional office in Panama. It is the first, and currently the only office we have in Latin America," he said during an interview in Panama City.
