Why Philadelphia?

  • The State of Pennsylvania has three important ports, being the Port of Philadelphia the most important one. The other two are, the Port of Erie-Pittsburgh and the Port of Erie.
  • The Port of Philadelphia is strategically located in the center of the northeast coast of the United States, and  has obtained great benefit from the expansion of the Panama Canal.  It has   increased the volume of containers handled in the last few years.
  • The Philadelphia Regional Port Authority and the Panama Canal Authority have a Mutual Cooperation Agreement  in place that contemplates joint marketing programs, information exchange, market studies,  modernization and improvement,  personnel training, and technological exchange.
  • Philadelphia is the main importation point and distribution center of fresh fruits and frozen food for the U.S. territory.
