U.S. Chamber, 24 Partner Countries Set Western Hemispheric Business Agenda For 2016

MIAMI–Friday, February 5, 2016 - 2:45pm. Coming off a successful 2015 that included integration of 24 American Chambers of Commerce with the U.S. Chamber, the American Association of Chambers of Commerce in Latin America (AACCLA) today completed its 2016 “Outlook on the Americas” Conference, setting the year’s agenda for businesses in the Western Hemisphere. 

In his address at the conference, Myron Brilliant, the Executive Vice President and Head of International Affairs at the U.S. Chamber, said AACCLA’s success in 2015 will be “strengthened this year through strong support for the Trans-Pacific Partnership.”

Additionally, Thomas Kenna, AACCLA’s Chairman and the President & Director of the Panama Canal Railway Company, highlighted the seven policy priority areas that AACCLA is aiming to further its focus on: trade; trade facilitation; rule of law; health, intellectual property and innovation; cross-border data flow; health care; and contribution of U.S. business.

Stefan Selig, the Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade at the U.S. Department of Commerce, delivered the conference’s keynote address. “When you look at the global landscape, there is a historic opportunity for Latin American and Caribbean economies to stand out in global markets,” Selig said.
